The article Howie cited referred to hormone replacement therapy for post-menopausal women, to alleviate sexual problems caused specifically by too low a hormone level. The effects on younger people with normal hormone levels using the patch recreationally might not affect libido or enjoyment, might cause other problems. E.g. my doctor put me on thyroid medication last week. I was having symptoms of low thyroid. The med brings the hormone back to a proper range, and alleviates the symptoms. But were I to take it "recreationally", too high a hormone level can not only be unpleasant but even dangerous. Guess it would be interesting to see a study with a control group of horny yuppies or gen x-ers :-) -Ben > Not necessarily.
