It's not just the pressure from government officials...it was also pressure from protestors and other groups. The protests also told government officials that their constituents will not tolerate hate. Most of the protests were held and populated by locals, whereas the Christian Hate Mongers that counter protested had to be shipped in from Florida. Alderman Moreno represents parts of Chicago that have large gay populations Like Boystown and Lakeview neighborhoods.
