OK, so here is my two cents on the ID issue. My wife is not from America and
cannot yet vote here. So, if Georgia does not check for ID's (I don't know if
they do or don't, just using the state I currently live in as an example, I
voted absentee for Colorado), then my wife and I can go to the local polling
place, and I make sure she is behind me. Then, as they check off my name from
the list, I quickly look up a woman's name who has not yet voted, and tell my
wife that name in her ear. She steps up and uses that name, and voila, Abigail
Smith has voted. Now, here is how this would play out:

1. Abigail does not show up to vote, but her vote is counted anyway because she
"did" show up.

2. Abigail shows up, is told she already voted. Protest ensues and one of these
things happens:

a. Abigail's vote is tossed out as is Abigail for voter fraud.
b. Abigail's vote is tossed out, and she gets to vote.
3. Abigail is told she already voted so it's too bad and is asked to leave.

But, if my wife was required to show ID, and her ID is checked against their
list (as California did/does, have not voted in Ca. in a while so I don't
know), and she can't vote.

So I really don't understand why people fuss about having to show an ID to
vote. We have to show ID for so many less important things but people don't
think twice about it. I mean, I have to show my government ID when I shop at
the commissary. Is buying groceries a matter of national security? No. Are the
groceries at the commissary less expensive than off post? Usually not, but the
money I save not driving a few miles away to a good neighborhood to shop
offsets the price difference. Point being, if you are eligible to vote in the
US, then have ID to vote. No ID, no vote. Simple.
