Most of those nations are not oil rich, of course, but regardless, it is an
excellent idea. Increasing costs associated with decreasing natural
resources == increased unrest and strife. The US currently has a reasonable
stake in the clean energy game (not commanding but not horrid) and we're
trying to increase our role. So, let's see...we try and convince countries
in an area of growing geopolitical importance to help align themselves with
US leadership, buy technology from US companies and avoid economic and
political unrest.

Damn, it's like that guy Obama is really fucking smart or something.
