The NRA's response to the Sandy Hook shooting was to say that we needed more people with guns. They pointed to how Israel has armed guards at schools as an example of what we should do. The example was very ill informed and showed a surprising lack of research. The linked article below discusses how school guards are actually used in Israel and more importantly goes over the gun laws there - gun laws the NRA would never want here.
