I accidentally discovered offline support on my old moto droid. I didn't have service on it anymore, but was connecting to hotspots to make sure I was on the right path. I accidentally left navigation on and it downloaded the nav info. I hadn't realized that I had done that when I pulled out of the McD's parking lot and it started giving me turn by turn nav...

My car is a 2006 and the GPS unit that's built into the dash has maps and technology from 2006 too. But I know how to use it and the maps are still pretty correct for most places I need it. I prefer the in-dash touchscreen, but would love it to be driven by an app from m,y phone so that it can be smarter, connected, and updated. Maybe running Google Maps - that would be fine. In the meantime, the car's GPS works fine. I don't want to fiddle with a small device stuck to my dash. I'd rather just use the one that came with the car. It's also nice to have the portability that google provides for walking > directions too. This is something I do use my iPhone for occasionally, when in NYC or someplace that I am not going to know every street I'm walking around on. Offline support would be nice too, so that I can use it when I travel internationally (because I usually turn off data). -Cameron ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:359729 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
