I have run across this attitude before as well. She will end up losing her
job. I got the person fired in my case as well. My situation was
different. I have been on vicoden for several years due to knee, hip and
back pain. A couple of years ago, I had a minor surgical procedure and the
surgeon gave a onetime prescription of additional vicoden to deal with the
increased pain of the procedure. Apparently, the VA pharmacy won't let you
have more than 1 prescription of any individual narcotic, so unbeknownst to
me, my regular prescription got cancelled. So I go to renew it and I see
there are no refills. So I call the general medicine clinic, where I go for
general medical needs , to get the prescription renewed. At the time, I was
seeing student docs. My VA works with the neighboring Loyola Hospital, which
is a teaching hospital for the Loyola School of Medicine. Most of the
people are competent and they also have a real doc overseeing everything. I
had jut got a new batch of student docs and apparently this batch did not
know how to read medical records. When they renewed my prescription, they
renewed the surgeon's prescription...not the one that I have had for a
couple of years. So I get the wrong prescription via mail and I call up to
let them know they screwed up and ordered the wrong one. My doctor was
clueless. So I asked to speak to another doctor. After explaining it to
him, he seemed to understand what I was talking about and said he would fix
it. Still didn't happen. So at this point I call the patient advocate...he
looked into it and they said they would fix it, didn't happen. They all kept
repeating that I was just trying to get more narcotics. So the patient
advocate gets me in touch with the assistant chief of staff, who after
explaining the situation and him doing some research agreed that I was just
trying to get my regular prescription renewed. Now this was after 3 months
has passed and I had gone about a month with no pain meds. So the next
prescription I got was the surgeon's prescription again. I went off. Their
medical board tried to get me banned for seeking narcotics and for use of
abusive language. The Patient Advocate stuck up for me...basically saying
that I was justified in being upset and frustrated as I had tried on several
occasions to get this rectified (and these were all documented) and nothing
happened. I got switched to a resident doctor, so there is no more
switching every time a new batch of docs comes in...I need the continuity of
care that provides. With diabetes and other chronic issues...it got old
having to re-explain everything that is wrong with me every 6 months. I got
a threat letter from the board about going off on the doctor. Keep in mind,
this was the 4th doc I had spoken to and the 3rd one that agreed with my
side of the story. I forwarded this letter to the Inspector General's office
and later found out that the head of the board was relieved of her duties as
a result of this and several other complaints. What really set me off even
more than the threat that if I use foul language again, that I will lose my
benefits, is that nothing in the letter addressed the issue at hand. No
apologies...nothing saying that the doctors in question will be
reprimanded...nothing. It just castigated me for standing up for my rights
and for trying to hold student doctors accountable for their fuck ups. That
is what prompted me to forward that to the IG. The system does work, but you
have to know how and be willing to use it. Be a pain in the ass.

Subject: An Update

I'm so mad I'm physically ill.

I just received another email from Wanda Kuznar, my VA Field Examiner. She
is the person that makes decision about whether to approve my spending
requests for the VA's Fiduciary Program. You see I was awarded a significant
sum of money by the VA as back pay. Only I'm not being given direct access
to it, and have to make requests to get any of it.

I made some pretty basic requests. A sum of money to be sent to my ex-wife
so I can get braces for my kids. A sum of money to be sent to my father. He
has had to take leave from work to help care for my Uncle who is dying from
ALS, as such I've been helping to support him, as he has helped support me
over the last two years. I also requested a sum of money for myself to move
to NC, where my kids live with my ex-wife.

All of these requests, which had been approved in emails previously, have
now been denied. She is doing so purely out of spite, as I have filed
several formal complaints against her and she is now under investigation by
the VA's Office of the Inspector General. She is abusing her powers now
because she doesn't like me, doesn't like my politics, and doesn't like the
way I speak.

In her last email to me she said she will be deleting further emails from me
without reading them. She made this decision based off of my use of the word
FUCK in an email several times. I'm sorry but she is a government employee.
She does not have the right to not be offended. My 1st amendment rights are
sacrosanct and inviolable. Didn't they learn that when they TRIED to have my
blog taken down illegally?

There is so much going on today that I'm kind of disjointed. You see I was
waiting for 6 months for these funds to come available. We had many
conversations about how I was going to spend the money, and everything was
set up and approved. I was only informed that the pay had arrived today,
even though it actually had arrived on the 14th. The knew damn well that I
was waiting on this shit.

Moreover they have the numbers wrong by at least a couple of thousand
dollars, and with her not answering my emails or calls anymore I cannot look
into it further.

I've been trying to reach her supervisor, one Kris Wolf, for days and he's
not gotten back to me. Yet again.

I contacted the OIG and they have now begun an investigation. I also
contacted the Indianapolis Hub where these people are supervised from. I'm
trying to climb the chain of command until I can get satisfaction, or at
least a copy of all the internal policies that relate to the fiduciary
program. I have requested these documents several times and have been
totally ignored thus far.

I really don't know what to do at this point. I'm considering filing felony
theft charges against the individuals involved, but I'm not sure how that
would work. I'm in talks to become part of a class action suit over the
fiduciary issue. I just don't know what to do.

This is my money. I earned it. It's not welfare.

Fuck man.

I mean, christ I pawned my phone and my laptop ust to have money for smokes
and food. I borrowed from my mom and dad as well. I'd had to give my dad a
significant amount of money at the beginning of the month to take care of my
uncle and that's why I'm in such dire straights now. I have food and smokes
to last until the 1st. No gas, no fun, no leaving the house, but I have food
and smokes right?

This program was supposedly put in place to improve the quality of life of
the veteran. Instead it has brought me to the brink of ruin. As I told Ms.
Kuznar earlier, I would rather go back to being homeless than kiss the ass
of some mini fucking tyrant who is abusing her power.

This shall not stand!!
