I am trying to set up my local dev enviroment as close to the live
server(cf 9 advanced) as possible.
I would like to host a site from a subdirectory and have made the proper
.htaccess entries as required.
Live server:

mysitedotcom is aliased in hosts to my server's ip.
Everything works fine on the live server, but I am having issues locally.
Image links that work on the live server are broken locally.
For instance:
<img src="images/awaed_shocase.gif" alt="award show case"/>
works fine on the live server but is broken locally.
Also, the css link is broken locally but not on the live server:
<link href="/css/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
I am using apache here locally, but have made every effort to duplicate the
live enviroment. Not sure what I missed.
