"The wealthiest 1/3 of lawmakers are well into the wealthiest 10% of
Americans And for the most part the wealthiest 10%'s wealth increased at
well above 5%."

Are you saying that the wealthiest 1/3 of lawmakers are in the top 10% of
the wealthy or top 10% of Americans?

Depending on what numbers you look at, the top 1% (the Bane of the occupy
movement) start at 300 - 500k. Just take the average and say 400k. I'd
say our congressmen are well into the 1%.

"So it is not a 'legislator' thing, but a 'rich people' thing."

I'd say you're close. It's an elitist thing. There are rich people who
earned their money by hard work and who are not elitists.

I read the results of a survey and it said that of the top 1%, 70% is
Republican. The survey then broke it down even further and said that the
top 40% of the 1%, that is, the .4% is 70% Democrat.

If the survey is correct, it would seem that the closer one is to the 400k
mark, the more one wants lower taxes and less government interference. The
closer one is to the top, the more one wants taxes (which can easily be
avoided through trust funds and such) and more government interference (to
protect their wealth). The elites.
