Yup, many times. Stay near River Street if you have a choice and want to walk to things. River street will be the touristy (but also fun) strip of shops, bars, and restaurants. There are a few haunted tours you can do at night that are decent, including one featuring haunted bars.
Up above river street there are tons of garden squares and shopping / dining. It can be fun just to wander around the streets and explore things there. It's all riverfront and there is no "beach" in Savannah, but - if you have transportation and enough time, it's a fun drive to head out to Tybee island for the afternoon. If you are only there one day you may not want to spend it driving out there, but it's a very cool drive through some marshes and such. Along the way to Tybee is Ft Pulaski, which is an old Civil War area fort. Depending on how into history you are you might be interested in it. You can probably look it up on Goole first to find out if it's interesting enough for you. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was filmed there and there are a few places to visit from that movie. Bring a camera. That's all I have time for - do you already have any plans there or is this just a side effect of some other trip? -Cameron On Mon, Apr 1, 2013 at 9:43 AM, GMoney <[email protected]> wrote: > > Anyone been there, live there, live near it, know what to do there? > > We'll be spending next Saturday there.
