There was a last minute deal to go from a primary to a convention. A
convention favored the tea bagger wing of the state republicans. By getting
a convention the radical wing managed to freeze out the compeditors, like
Jim Bolling. He is the current Lt. Governor, and while a conservative is
not crazy like the current slate of Republicans.

And the candidate for Attorney General is almost as crazy as Jackson. While
in the state House of Delegates, Mark Obenshain tried to get a bill passed
that would mandate jail time if a woman did not notify the police that she
had a miscarriage.
