The CXO of my new company is doing a presentation today at Webvisions at 3pm Pacific. It's being streamed via Adobe Connect and it seems like the sort of thing that some folks on this list might be interested in. It is going over an area that I've been doing a lot of work in recently, basically the notion that the next phase of Internet development isn't going to be about Macs vs PCs or even iOS vs Android, it is going to be about machine to machine communication, about embedded devices, about radical form factors that are fundamentally different from how we've been designing and developing.

This information can include - but is definitely not limited to - things such as personal preferences, location, time of day, network connectivity, and more. Connected Thinking introduces ways to make a product function at a very personal level for the user; to evolve and change for the user based on the users state; and follow the user fluidly across multiple devices and screens. Fundamentally, Design Thinking proved to be a successful process for solitary, isolated, hard goods and products. Connected Thinking will take product design into a brave new world where products will have absolutely no form factor. Tomorrow your phone and your favorite apps will not live on a Samsung or an iPhone but will live on your chair, your desk, your wall, your shirt and will follow you, and evolve for you. The products of tomorrow need to be built with a full understanding of Connected Thinking.
