Indeed, when a spotlight is on they tend to care a lot more, but when
it's business as usual...

I keep hearing about how terrible the job market is, how awful the
economy is, how we're barely beginning to recover from the Great
Recession, etc.  Apparently someone forgot to tell the big companies
that we're in a recession at all based on the way they treat
customers.

Another case in point, I'm gearing up to spend upwards of $50,000 on
hardware for a new site installation (not a website, but physical
computer deployments).  I've been trying to get a quote out of my HP
sales rep for thin clients, monitors, and some network gear for WEEKS
and he's been less than helpful through the entire process.  He might
as well call me and just say he doesn't want the sale, it would save
both of us lots of time, except that would mean he'd have to pick up
the phone and call me, so that will never happen.  Sigh.
