They won't go down the tubes. Profits may drop a bit, but they can repurpose to more beneficial research and products. Like clean energy for one, or better safety systems on vehicles, shielding for space flights...better propulsion systems... Guidance systems for self driving cars...medical research on regeneration, devices to stabilise a person until they can be taken to a hospital...
So many different ways that trillions of dollars can be spent to assist humanity instead of waging war and still be profitable.
