"Despite its booming economy and ballooning population, Texas remains one
of the 10 worst states in America to be a kid, according to a report
released "

Reminds me of Shanker:

I will worry about the children when they can vote in union elections. -
Albert Shanker (president of the American Federation of Teachers)

Texas will worry about kids when they can vote and pay taxes.

"But Deviney said the state has the third-highest percentage of low-wage
jobs in the country."

Which leads to the question: Is a low wage job better than no job?
Unfortunately,
not every job can be a high paying, white collar job.

And it's going to get worse for the low wage workers. The fact that TX is
booming means more low wage workers are going there. Too many people are
competing for the low wage jobs. It's the same argument some make about
illegal immigrants driving wages down.

Texas will continue to boom though as long as other states continue to
bleed the job creators.

It's got to be bad when you are a legislator in a state with job killing
policies and TX is openly recruiting your businesses. What can you tell
those tempted to leave? Just stick with us, it'll get better. Yeah right.
