I would completely disagree that they are a waste of time and resources. However, I do get your point, which I have also felt in the past at times and really (in my case at least) would be better phrased "I cannot figure out how to use frameworks, therefore they are a huge time suck for me and I feel like I am spinning my wheels when I try to learn them." Many of us in the CF community come from a very non computer science background and sort of just fell into this career and technology stack. Because of this background, many of us have to work harder to understand concepts that might be second nature to someone who may have a computer science degree or similar training. Still though, with enough determination I've found myself able to learn just about anything I set my mind to. Frameworks are not a waste of time and resources, but the process in learning any new concept can be a long and difficult one. If you don't have the time to put into it, new concepts can definitely be frustrating as you struggle to learn them. I also agree that it's MUCH MUCH easier to learn new concepts within a team of people than as a lone-cowboy-coder. I have always learned the most in environments where I am far from the smartest person there. That's also why I enjoy going to conferences so much. So many people there are smarter than me and I'm bound to learn something new every time I go! -Cameron ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:366733 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
