That is cool. I saw something similar to this (on a much smaller scale) when I was doing a contract in SE IN back in 2010...the town of Metamora is a touristy place that recreates an old canal town from the early 1800's. They have a bridge , that goes over a creek, that carries the canal over...this was also a horse drawn canal system...
