It is strange. I grew up with several WW1 veterans - my grandfather and
some neighbours. Then the regiment I was with later had a very storied
history during the First World War.

One thing I remember very vividly was attending the Remembrance Day
commemoration at the Valour Road Cenotaph with my father, and then later on
by myself. Every year there were fewer and fewer of the old vets, and the
WW2 vets got older and older. A few years ago I was in Winnipeg for Nov 11
and saw much the same, this time the old WW2 vets had the same rold as
their predecessors.
