How is the title misleading? I'm still not sure how it is false outrage.
The remarks were absolutely stupid, yes. They were also, in my opinion,
pretty outrageous. And they are noteworthy because, alas, they fall into a
pretty recognizable pattern.

As for the Taliban comparisons, they are pretty apt in some ways, not in
others. The Tea Party, thankfully, is not violent in the way that the
Taliban has been. They have certainly employed some very violent rhetoric,
but actual violence has been minimal. They have been engaged in the
political process thus far and the rumblings about extra-political attempts
at pushing forward their agenda have been just that, rumblings. So I would
say that the comparison has a huge gulf largely because of that and anyone
seeking to compare the two needs to be very careful about broad sweeping
generalizations.
