Walking upright in Hominins evolved because they lived in grasslands and it
allowed them to see predators coming from a distance over the grasses...

I think the best answer to that question is that moist human characteristics
are specialized for living on land. Having characteristics for living on
land is not something I would expect in creatures that live in the sea.
