So this recent article (http://tinyurl.com/jvrx67q) got me to thinking
about how well Sprint is going to do in the future. I am currently a Sprint
customer and I am very unhappy with them, simply because their service on
Fort Benning (where I live, work and play) is shitty, and Sprint recognizes
that. In an effort to get out of my contract early, I was passed up to
three different layers of customer service reps/managers, all to no avail.
The best they could do is offer me some sort of network booster that works
off of my home's Internet connection. The issue with that is that it only
enhances the call signal, but I don't make that many calls from home. Most
of my work with my phone is for work, away from home.
Anyway, this One Up plan that only lived for four months just shows how
reluctant current sprint customers are about staying with Sprint, and more
importantly how they are having troubles getting new customers. Their
catchy little commercials with James Earl Jones and Malcom McDowell are
just that, catchy little commercials. I am sure that I am not the only
sprint customer who snickers when we see them (both because they are
actually funny and because sprint customers know that Sprint is not all
that).
Their 4G coverage is shitty because it still barely exists. Only recently
was it added in Columbus, GA, but only in certain parts of the city. It's
still not in Colorado Springs, although they said that it would be there
in 2012. I have read many stories about how they are lagging in expanding
their 4G, and are being passed up by all the other carriers.
I really like T-Mobil's offer to buy out my contract so much that my wife
and I are heading up there today and see if that's worth the effort. I can
also save about $50.00 a month on my bill (not counting my military
discount) with the same plan I have now. I checked their coverage and it's
excellent here at Fort Benning, Columbus Ga and Colorado Springs, CO where
my wife and I will live when I retire.
