We're having an argument in our house over the suggested specs for a PC. It's for my wife who is now doing design work in Adobe Illustrator. The budget is tight so we're looking where we can to pull together a system.
My suggestion was to get a refurbished/off lease machine with a dual core processor, 4 Gb of RAM and Win 7 64-bit... then add in a low end video card with 2Gb video ram. Best price I could get for that setup was right at the $250 mark. Today I come home to, "my mom wants you to read this email." (wife is working for her mom) In essence it says, "the video card doesn't make a difference for Illustrator, you need multi-core, lots of RAM, multi-drive and 64 bit." The spec requirements that I've found mention video cards as optional, My wife's running it now on a dual core laptop with on-board video and it overheats every now and then but otherwise runs decent. Can someone steer me in the right direction on this one? Thanks! Until Later! C. Hatton Humphrey http://www.eastcoastconservative.com Every cloud does have a silver lining.
