I don't think he has a task argument under the currently recognized laws customs and philosophies of the United states.
I think he's right according to what was promised, and written, to his family and many others like them a hundred and more years ago under what, let's be honest, was a different system of government. 1. The federal government was never intended to own 80% of a states land mass. 2. The BLM was created to mange access to these lands and improve them for use by these ranchers, that's it's charter, not finding excuses to shut down ranches, which is now it's mission as they have said themselves on many occasions. 3. The federal government isn't supposed to have criminal arrest powers, those didn't properly exist until after Lincoln, and even then most federal agents went unarmed and used local or state law enforcement to effect arrests. They certainly didn't have tanks and machine guns and snipers go after a dude over what is a civil matter, not a criminal one. Add in the 5700 acres of land ready for development by Reid and his son and yes, people are ready to shoot over this issue, right now, today.
