If he didn't want to get fired for violating a contract with an anti-domestic abuse clause, he shouldn't have hit his wife. After many years of volunteering in rape and domestic abuse crisis centers, my recommended punishment for wife abusers involves removing their testicles with a dull potato peeler, so if all he got was fired, he got off light in my book.
