So I'm spending some time today looking around the more conservative-leaning parts of the web to see what they are saying should happen now that they surpassed expectations in the elections. Obviously a lot of self congratulating, which is to be expected, but I wanted to see if there was much in the way of "Well, now what?"
I was fascinated by this piece in the National Review, from the editorial board: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/392082/governing-trap-editors It argues, quite forcefully, that attempting to govern is a dumb idea and that Republicans should just spend the next two years "talking about conservative ideas" and not trying to actually engage in anything substantive until/unless they win the Presidency in 2016. I get what they are saying but it seems nakedly craven. Don't do anything until you don't have to compromise? That's what you get out of a wave election? Just kind of depressing to think that this is what passes for tactical wisdom.
