Linear time is a construct of the filters in the human brains, similar
to those that prevent constant bombardment of motion and visual
stimuli.  If you doubt this, drop some LSD and and intentionally
observe the passage of time with a clock versus your perception of
time while you are tripping.  Or, if you don't want to trip, just read
Aldous Huxley.
