Tragic. And will probably undo a lot of the mental/moral strides that have been churning in people's minds. Including those police. With the scrutiny they have been under, I don't think _anything_ will happen without being dissected by all parties involved (police, anti-police, press, lawyers, general public) But this didn't throw off any major "cannot have happened" flags for me, yet.
