Pearl Harbor had fictitious characters doing fictitious things. The allies knew about the enigma machine. In fact, there had been some intelligence from the Poles that described the machine. The Brits at Blechley Park had, in the process of breaking the code, built an enigma machine that looked almost identical to the real thing. The first enigma machine recovered was by some British sailors from a German sub. They had just stumbled upon it. They didn't go looking for it.

Since the holiday draws near here, I've noticed there have been alot of movies on about WWII and other wars in US history.
