Nope..as a patient with serious endocrine disorders, I've gotten very well 
acquainted with the endocrine system, and it's not controlled by the brain, 
but the hormones released from the glands themselves, notably the pituitary.

One of the most common causes of obesity is a condition known as insulin 
resistance.  The body makes insulin, but is unable to use it correctly.  If 
you have this condition and eat carbs or sugars, you will gain, or at least 
be unable to lose, weight.

Insulin resistance has a genetic component, similar to diabetes.

Another cause is low human growth hormone levels, or low adrenal hormone 
levels.  If you suffer from either of those conditions, weight loss is 
almost impossible, regardless of the amount of dieting or exercise you do.
