NWN is based on the DND 3rd edition rules. It is close to Baldur's Gate. You control one character and can hire one henchman. You will choose your henchman based on your character class and the type of mission or stage of the game which you are going on.
The graphics are fantastic, and the game that is included is quite good. It is almost infinitely sextensible, since it includes a toolset to create your own adventures. The scripting language is C++ based and you can literally build an adventure as complex and in depth as the one which was shipped with the game. The multiplayer is good as well.
