I wasn't talking about "desert". Yes, desert with one "s" is correct for a dry, sandy place. "ss" is for yummies after a meal.
What I was pulling your chain about was the phrase "learn a desert" which didn't make sense. Did you maybe mean "turn a desert"? n/m...
