Larry- The MindStor harddisk doesn't fit in the camera - sorry if I wasn't clear.
Think of the MindStor as a "pocket size" portable HD, with backlit screen, proprietary O/S, input and output connections, and rechargeable NiMh battery. (The screen is for operating menus, not for image previewing.) MindStor's input is a PC-Card slot (like notebooks have) with one or more memory card adapters. (CF, SmartMedia, MultiMedia Card, Sony MemoryStick, Panasonic SD.) So, your camera memory card is getting full. Take the card out of the camera, stick it in the MindStor. Tell the MindStor to import the entire card. Transfer rate from camera card to Mindstor up to 2MB/sec. It does a read-after-write verify for data integrity, reports any problems or corrupted image files. Then, tell the MindStor to format the CF card. Put the now-empty card back in your camera. Each transfer from camera card to MindStor creates one sequentially-numbered folder on the MindStor disk. Note: also supports text files and long filenames. Repeat as necessary until you get back to a computer. (Not likely you will fill up the MindStor disk <g>.) Back at home or orifice (sorry, meant office!), connect MindStor output (USB or FireWire) to PC or Mac - supports both. Host computer sees MindStor as an external HD (which it is). Transfer whatever you want from the MindStor to the PC or Mac. Specs say the MindStor battery provides up to 100 minutes of use, good for 500 recharge cycles. At home/office, use the ac adapter. Battery costs about $16 if you need more capacity or want a spare. USB cable is included, FireWire cable is extra ($12). Hope this is clearer. BTW, you can download the entire owner's manual as a PDF. -Ben > Yes but how does that 10gb drive fit into your digital camera? > > larry > > -- > Larry C.
