Perhaps that is the case. Either way, the 'man' has been unusually quiet in recent months. I'm suspicious of the audio tape his lackeys put out to al-Jazeera, why would he not use a video camera? As I understand it, a lot of his charisma with Middle Eastern audiences comes from his face and the sincerity in his expression when he speaks. Why would he not use a video when speaking to television?
My thoughts are this: either he's dead or somehow the attacks made him far uglier than he already was. Eyeballs hanging out of the socket, rotten skin pulled back over the crooked yellow teeth, hair burned away over the filthy charred scalp, ugly. For now, I can deal with either possibility. But I have trouble explaining his silence any other way.
