Good plan Stephenie! I have a similar plan in mind. :) The large basement
with lots of music going on will be kewl! My son has long fingers too. I am
going to start teaching him to play. No doubt he'll get better than me
before too long!

Sounds fun! There is a local music store that is quite large called
Mom's Music (they have a show on pbs too that features local bands) that
has a thing called rock school...where you learn to play with other
newbies and get to perform on their stage as a band...they also have a
class for learning how to mix/produce...i am making a budget so I can
put away some money to try both of those this winter....

They have classes for kids too, my youngest likes the drums so I think
he will take some of those...oldest plays guitar very well...he has
these long ol' fingers and just picks it up and plays....think he gets
that from my dad as he can play anything by ear (that sounds
weird...heeehee, by ear!)

I started out playing acoustic, but I have these little stubby
fingers...so I switched to electric...easier to play, but I have been
learning a few things...mainly some sabbath, metallica, some old stuff,
doobie bros etc....
LOL, have yet to learn a song all the way through, mainly just bits and
pieces...
But I really enjoy it!

I can't sing at all...i mainly bought the mic so my oldest son's friend
who is a singer can practice at our house...see it is all part of my
master plan, get the kids and their friends hooked on music...we have a
large basement that is finished where everything is setup, then they can
all hang at my house and I can keep em out of trouble (or something like
that)!
