I think people should be allowed their artistic expression. The sculptor created what he felt. It was up to Rockefeller Center to decide whether or not it was an appropriate piece for display.
Yes, it was a bit disturbing, but no more disturbing than the actual photos and live footage of the people jumping, yet New Yorkers never criticized the news coverage that first day (that I know of) .... And what of all the pictorial displays? Life is not pretty, people should stop shoving bits of it into the dark so they don't have to deal with it.
