Worse. It means "there goes that new digital TV I just bought".

The way they pass the signal now isn't encrypted and this proposal is to
encrypt it. Most digital TVs sold so far have external tuner boxes. These
decode the signal and pass it to the TV. This new proposal would make
current tuners obsolete because they can't pass the encrypted signal to the
screen.
