I am pretty sure I have heard about cockroach programming through electrical
pulses. ie - you can put something on the cockroach which can communicate
wireless with a controller of some sort and induce electrical charges to
influence the actions a cockroach makes.

I am sure they have this working in the labs.

So you could outfit an army of cockroaches for surveillance or other
activities. Not sure if BAT programming is there yet, but worth a shot...
