My parents bought a really old house in Brooklyn and we've been rebuilding it for years. My brother came home from Israel a number of years back and said that we should really have 2 kitchens, one for milk and one for meat (long, religious topic that will just derail the story). In order to make a second kitchen in the basement, we had to rip up the floor as there was this huge lump in it. As we're breaking up the cement we find that the lump is a 10' by 10' block of poured concrete. This means that the block was poured somewhere else into a mold and then moved into the house. Not something you'd expect in the middle of a room. We started breaking it up and found embedded into the concrete chunks of cast iron. It turned out to be a vulcan stove from the early 1900's. When all this was broken up and taken out, we found underneath sandy earth filled with mica. This is not native to the area at all. Being the armature archeologist that I was (my minor in college), I dug down some. I eventually found an old iron nail (the old square ones) pointing straight down and some flexible mass of something that looked like molten metal. I don't think I found anything else. I threw the stuff back into the hole, filled it up and we later cemented it over. The cement almost instantly cracked, but it wasn't bad. Right after that, the house started to have some strange electrical events. Clocks started to go forwards and backwards (even battery operated ones), a radio turned on when I walked down for a midnight snack, etc. Standard stuff. I had no problem with it as I've been in haunted houses since I was a child. No concern from my parents either. It wasn't till I got married that things changed. When Judith and I got married, we moved to a new house for a few months. First thing there, we had the same electrical disturbances. For example, a specific radio would go on, off, raise up in volume, lower, etc. Only when Judith or I would walk in the room. We then moved to our current house (of 6 years) and the effect followed. As Judith was pregnant at the time, she was a little freaked. We eventually went to my Rabbi and he gave me a Kamea (a kind of prayer/talisman) to hang on the wall. The first one didn't work so he gave us a second one. Since then, no major effects. The same radio that was having the most effect suddenly stopped it totally. We still have it in the bedroom. You may want to get Judiths side of it as well as this is from my memory and way of thinking. Whatever it was, it's quiet now but you never know what the future brings. :)
