The Electoral College isn't going anywhere.

To change it requires a Constitutional Amendment. An amendment requires
2/3 vote of both houses, then 3/4 of the states. I don't think it would
even come close.

The Electoral College gives states a lot of power, with out it the
states begin to loose authority. The elected officials of the Large and
Small states won let it go because of the power it brings each to the
National Government. The Medium states may go along with it, but
probably not because they have those swing votes. And not state wants to
give that up.
