A number of people don't share that opinion.

There were a lot of people who voted for one Candidate in the last
election just because they didn't like the other.

The fact is a majority means more than half of the total. IMHO to win an
election required a majority of those who vote.

To say that one person wins just because that person got more votes than
any other single candidate is to deny the people their rights.
