Mostly it was contested that the punch card system was flawed. It was really easy for the tabs to fall out. Also it was mostly counties that had a majority of elderly citizens that ended up voting for, crap can't remember his name, he ran independent, ran as republican once. Well anyways, he ended up with a lot of votes down there which is why they think a lot of people were confused as to who they voted for.
The voting here again was screwed up and Janet Reno was going to contest, but she let it go. Florida voting sucks. However I did vote. I had an absentee ballot because I was deployed to the Sinai, Egypt at the time. Did you know that all the overseas ballots were thrown out? I can assure you that Bush would have won by a more obvious margin had all the military ballots from deployed soldier, sailors, airman and marines been counted. Also, I watched what was going on, but our news was pretty filtered both by the military and the locals. What was lied about during this process? As I remember it Gore's camp were the ones contesting on the grounds that people were unable to understand the ballots. I am sorry but the notion of someone not understanding a voting machine, or a write in ballot is beyond me. Please, I don't mean this as direct criticism, feel free to (factually, no opinions needed) tell me about the election some more. I am neither a republican nor a democrat, so I am pretty impartial on this issue. Just want to be better informed :) Tim -----Original Message----- From: Angel Stewart [mailto:gel@;silkcotton.com] Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2002 2:26 PM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Katherine Harris The people that supported Bush would want her there I'm sure. -Gel -----Original Message----- From: Cantrell, Adam [mailto:Acantrell@;kentlaw.edu] Hopefully this doesn't sound like more political spam, but if anybody remembers who Katherine Harris is, she was the secretary of state for Florida who decided within a day or so that a recount wasn't really necessary in the election fiascos that took place there. SNL did a couple skits making fun of the obviousness of her political bias, and how she wanted a guaranteed ambassador position for her favors to the bush family. Well, it looks as if her favor is being returned in the form of a congressional seat. The Bush's have been helping raise campaign financing, and the payback scheme is becoming more apparent as election day nears. If you sat there during post-election watching Katherine Harris spew blatant lies on national television, thinking "what a dumb-ass", as I was, then you may consider donating a little cash to her opponent Jan Schneider. The link is: http://www.moveonpac.org/moveonpac/viewcandidates.phtml I plan on putting my money where my mouth is, hopefully this is useful information to somebody else. I didn't even know she was running. I certainly wouldn't want that woman in congress making decisions for our country; I can't imagine how anyone else would either.
