Probably for training. A lot of interactive training was done using video from laserdiscs.
Does anyone remember the acronym that predates "multimedia" to describe this phenomenon? Does anyone remember the Sony View system? The EIDS? Can anyone tell me the difference between disk and disc? God, I really am a geek. I love this stuff.
