They're trying them here in Boston PD.

Personally I don't see much use for them.  I myself own an Electric
Bicycle (www.ebike.com).  There's a police model (same as mine
basically) that runs for $1800, does 17mph without pedaling and can be
pedaled with the power runs down or to get extra speed.

Except for the motor and the controls the whole bike is, well, a bike
and can be fixed at any bike shop.

The Seague just doesn't seem to offer much over a bike - and nothing
really over an electric bike.  Sure, you get to stand up and mounting is
easier - but you have less carrying capacity, less range, more
maintenance costs, a larger initial investment, etc.

It's REALLY cool technology, but I just don't think that it's found it's
place yet...
