I have often thought about his myself. Lottery rules...

Do some balls come up more often than others? The balls are loaded in a
specific sequence. Balls although they might be different from one
particular draw to the next, are selected in sets, and are finite. The balls
are measured for variations to maintain consistency but...

It may be possible for some balls to appear drawn more often. So you may be
able to change your expected winnings in any particular draw by smartly
selecting the balls.

=== rule of thumb I buy in ...
(1) You are better off choosing numbers no one else would pick. I was
choosing 1,2,3,4,5,6 in Canada's 6.49 draw just so I couls be one of the
winners saying to the other - you freak, what are you doing picking
1,2,3,4,5,6? I chose those numbers because no one else would pick them.
(2) Play the carry-overs... you gotta think your expectation of winning
improves the more other peoples money appears in the draw (ie carry over
amounts, multiple other people playing the same numbers)
(3) On any given day, any gamblers theory might be true.

I was actually just debating on how well I could work the lottery system. If
I got every number that had ever been drawn would I have a better chance of
winning if I statistically figured out what numbers were called the most?
Then I read that it's a 1 in 22,000,000 chance of winning, and I sigh in
defeat.

Subject: Strange Patents...

I was sitting here thinking about the patent process. If Amazon.com can
get that stupid 1-click patent, can someone get a patent for..

    1. A process that allows web site content to be updated using a Web
Browser
    2. A web site that only allows access to authorized users
    3. A plot in which good defeats evil by turning evil good.

I'm in trying to avoid doing work. :-) Please feel free to add your own
item to the list.
