You may also want to look at Sash - its a version of Javascript that can run 
on the desktop or as a tray icon. http://sash.alphaworks.ibm.com/. At 2001, 
a CF Oddessey, Steve Nelson gave a very interesting discussion of how to 
integrate Sash with Coldfusion.
