Michael, I believe you are overstating the point of PETA's agenda.

Now, I'm no tree hugger, molly coddler, varmit lover, or what not. But the
mission of PETA is to encourage a respect for all living things and to
discourage behaviors running contraty to this view. At best, they are an
advocacy group like all the other ones out there, and are generally not
given to the extremes we see in some other organizations.

As far as peta.org goes, the group took advantage of the law and won, just
like so many corporations who have sued people holding Web addresses. What's
wrong with a group aggressively persuing its agenda?

Ever since the BS with peta suing and receiving peta.org (originally people
eating tasty animals), I've hated them. Respect animals over humans is their
