The majority of the country as defined by what?

Raw numbers:
http://fisher.lib.virginia.edu/elections/elect2000/jan6totals.htm

A good representative map from The Guardian (Flash Map)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/US_election_race/flash/0,5543,394350,00.html

The best representation is a county breakdown map... about 3/4 of the
way down the page at
http://www.esri.com/news/arcnews/spring01articles/usatoday.html
-OR- http://makeashorterlink.com/?X1E522313

There's the numbers... our electoral college system actually worked in
Gore's favor, because if land mass or # of counties won, this argument
would be a moot point.

And finally, I'll reiterate what I've said to friends that don't like
the way things are going... if you really want to be something other
than a fringe group that just wants to whine into the camera or mic
while the audience rolls their eyes, get a good, solid message out and
do something about it.
