Check out http://www.vaps.org/ It's the "Video Arcade Preservation Society".
They have links to a coupla faqs: http://www.spies.com/~arcade/info/FAQ.game.buying http://www.spies.com/~arcade/info/FAQ.game.auctions I looked into this a few years ago, but once I moved to Boston I've never had the space. The key is that "classic" games (read "old") can be very hard to find complete, and even harder find parts for. Something like Galaga, considering that, is "better" (because many of the parts are near-standardized) than something like "Centipede" (which requires that special roller-ball). Often you can't find the thing you want but you can find a big box of crap that could have the thing you want in it. ;^) For just a home system (and not the start of an expensive and space-consuming hobby) it's probably better to lurk in groups like rec.games.video.arcade.marketplace and figure out whose got a good reputation. Buying from a collector may be better than buying from an arcade (since many arcades only consider selling the system when it's ready to be out to pasture anyway). I'd make room if I could ever find a mint-condition "Tempest". ;^) Jim Davis > -----Original Message----- > From: Raymond Camden [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Wednesday, January 15, 2003 11:38 AM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Arcade games > > > Anyone here ever purchase an arcade game?
