The problem is that all the people writing the tutorials and stuff on the Web are PHP developers. Many of them treat CF like the plague. They aren't really interested in simplifying their work for other audiences, and I get the sense many of the PHP 'gurus' judge the value of their code by the number of lines contained in single files. It's all a matter of how you want your code to look. For me, I want my PHP coding to be simple and fast, like CF but without tags. I could show you some PHP code that looks a lot friendlier to CF developers. This is the same with ASP or JSP from what I have seen. First you have all of these steps to connect to the db, the to execute the query, finally you have this big while loop where you can actually use the query. PITA if you ask me. As for the simple task thing, you can end up writing more code to perform common tasks until you know what you are doing. But that is true for CF as well. It never hurts to know too many languages. I heard it was really hard to learn and it takes a lot longer to code for simple tasks than CF.. -Gel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Your ad could be here.
