My in-laws are all head-and-neck surgeons, and they do something almost like
this called a "midface degloving," where the entire face is carefully
undermined and then peeled back over the top of the head to allow
unencumbered access to the underlying musculature and skull.

Head and neck surgery like this is extremely tricky because all the nerves
and vessels travel through the areas being cut. It takes a real pro and
some serious luck for the healed face to have full feeling again. If a
simple wisdom tooth operation can destroy feeling in part of your face, just
think how hard it is to rewire an entire network of facial nerves.

If you respect the elegant beauty of skilled microsurgery, this is a
procedure for you to study. To this day it fascinates me.

Respectfully,
